The View from Castle Rock

I stood in the queue for 45 minutes to get my bag into left luggage, so we had to get a taxi to the venue for the performance of View from Castle a rock, a play directed by a Uni friend, based on Alice Munro's book. Her Scottish ancestors made the long journey to Canada over 200 years ago in search of a better life. The play shows the hardships endured. Although the Scottish government is not in agreement with their policy, it seems the UK is going to deny this opportunity to others.

By the time we emerged, the rain had started. We headed to the National Gallery for a bite to eat, but it was so packed we headed along to the swanky Balmoral Hotel and indulged in a glass of wine. We were flagging on our fourth festival day.so decided, given the price of the drink, we'd enjoy the luxury and hide from the rain there till our last event, the delightful Nina Stibbe, in conversation with James Runcie, coincidently the partner of the director of View from Castle Rock. They were a very amusing duo to end our festival experience - till next week!
