Hosta

A day spent mostly watching the Olympics on TV, so I ventured no further than the front garden for a blip.

Our front garden is short and north-east facing, so is difficult for growing flowering plants. For eight months of the year it gets no direct sunshine at all, and even in the summer it gets just a little in the early morning and evening. This year, in one troublesome spot where nothing has seemed to thrive, we have tried a hosta.

I have always thought of them as foliage plants, so was pleasantly surprised when it sprouted these rather delightful flowers.
