Happy 50th Birthday

A weekend of celebrations to mark the 50th birthday of the Tay Bridge.  It included (according to the website) a Vintage Farmer's Market in Newport on the Fife side, so we drove past all the goings on in Dundee as I do like a good market.

First car park was full, so I drove on to the centre of the town and parked virtually outside the Newport Hotel, but there were no signs anywhere to say where the market was.  We walked back towards the bridge in the hope of seeing the Vintage Car Rally cross over towards Dundee, but missed it by about 10 minutes.  So we turned round and walked back to the car and missed the Harley Davidson Rally as well, although we heard the roars!

When we got back to the car we heard music coming from behind the Newport Hotel and discovered some sort of event was being held there and the Vintage Farmer's Market appeared to be in a house right next to the car!

We'd walked all that way and it was right under our noses, though I have to say it wasn't what I expected from the description of "market"!  However, we had a lovely view of the bridge and the boats carrying passengers specially for this event, including a small boat called the Fifie, named after one of the original ferries that crossed here before the bridge was built.

We also passed the Blyth Fountain, which I've blipped here before and which was sparkling in the sunshine.  Not the day we'd planned, but enjoyable nonetheless:-)
