Reflections

The blip is of clouds reflected in a river close to the border with Sweden and it seems a good time to look back on Norway. The weather is as mixed as in Scotland, but it doesn’t rain for as long; it’s been a rubbish summer; the Romans got further north than anyone realised as Norwegian drivers are impatient and drive as if they were the only ones on the road; their strawberries are the best; it’s appallingly expensive for most things except strawberries, fuel on Sundays and dairy products (except milk); they are lovely people and almost always speak good English; they aren’t very good at information and have a predilection for impractical architecture. Also, we saw very little wildlife and I wonder if it could be linked to their habit of hunting and shooting anything that moves. It’s a great country to visit, but it isn’t warm very often. I liked it, although the hill walking is not a patch on Scotland.
