Nicky and her Nikon

Its a beautiful day

What a glorious day - we don't usually experience such high temperatures like this at the end of summer, and the blue sky is so clear and bright.

This photo was not as easy to get as it looks - we have tall trees around our house so in order to get a background of the blue sky with no trees creeping in to the frame, the flowers had to be held high up. I could not get them that high, so I enlisted the help of Adam, who stood there in the baking sun holding these flowers high up and me saying, a little to the left, no a bit more to the right while I was balancing on a wobbly chair trying to get the shot. Needless to say the photo shoot lasted all of 4 minutes with Adam saying it was too hot to be standing outside holding flowers up to the sky!

Adam has now gone to Exeter to his girlfriend's house but they will be back on Friday as it is his birthday on Saturday and we are celebrating it together.

So team GB came home today to a heroes welcome. It is wonderful when professional sportsmen/women compete in these games with as much determination and delight but no monetary gain, only pride and honour. I think it is outrageous that some countries pay their sportsmen/women if they get a gold medal - the Taiwanese women weightlifter was rewarded $952 000 for her gold medal. Maybe I am not being realistic but I thought that patriotic pride and glory was enough.
