A sunny Sunday afternoon in Carentan

Rue de la Gare (Station Road)

The "gentrification" of Carentan - largely achieved with the aid of European Community money - over the last decade has brought major changes to the town.  The station building, at the far end bottom of the street, has also been subject to a major overhaul and modernisation.

On the left in the photo is the Station Bar, recognisable by its red awning. On the side of the building is the only visible tribute to older days: a large, faded advertisement for Saint-Raphaël (an aperitif which I have never tried).
