Why did I come in here?

A very happy Garden Fairy

A parcel arrived from Lastlight Tracie this morning. In it was this wonderful drawing of the two owls. Elaine loves it so Booty has extra brownie points. :-)
Tracie also sent the commission she has been working on, please do see the extras. Many years ago I bought an old map of Aberdeenshire. It turned out the map had been issued by the General Staff to the Royal Flying Corps, founded 1912. The magnetic variation date on the map near the eye of the fly is 1909. Pilots were trained at various establishments including Dyce, the modern day centre for the North Sea heliport and fixed wing operations.
The flies are to remind me of the wonderful days and nights spent fishing on 32 miles of river leased to the Aberdeen Angling Association. Because of the AAA everybody was able to fish in the same waters as those with huge wallets and Range Rovers. In the gloaming you would hear the soft lilt of the Doric chattering away to a Yahoo from inner London. No animosity, just a sharing of Nature's incredible scenery and wildlife.
