Largs

The Battle of Largs took place in 1263 between the Scottish King Alexander III and Haarken, King of Norway. The battle itself may have been largely inconclusive, nevertheless it contributed to the failure of the Norwegian campaign to assert their sovereignty over the western seaboard of Scotland.

Today Largs celebrates its Viking past and this coming weekend there is a Viking festival in Largs.

We are not here to celebrate Vikings however, but rather to embark on a short cruise on the Waverley. The weather is not looking good today, hopefully it will be better for the cruise.
