Sgwarnog: In the Field

Comma

A morning with the butterflies and an afternoon at the football provided a balanced Saturday.

After a Large White (extra) and Speckled wood in the community garden, I negotiated the Harley Davidson camp ground to get to Moorside where I poked about the usual spots. A month ago the place was awash with Gatekeepers, but today just the one (extra). In fact it was Small Coppers that proved to be the most numerous of the day, three in all (extra). Just down the hill I came across this fine Comma (main image) and another Speckled Wood (extra).

At the football, Bradford were hosting Oldham Athletic (extra) and went 1-0 down after five minutes after a needless free kick on the ege of the area. City proceeded to dominate the rest of the match, playing the most attractive football I've seen from them in the few seasons I've been watching. Some players look reborn under the new management (Marshall, Clarke) and the newcomers are meshing well. But with all the possession, promising positions and a host of crosses and corners it was that final ball that was lacking. City finally equalised through a penalty but couldn't find the winner. Still, one more point and up to second in the table.
