Sgwarnog: In the Field

Weevil

I spent a quieter day at home to let my knee recover from pounding the streets of Nottingham and Grantham over the past couple of days.

I did get out looking for butterflies in the sunshine for a few hours in the afternoon: Small Heath, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Red Admiral, Peacock and various whites were about, but not in large quantities. One of the fields the other side of Spring Wood had been mown so I spent some time watching Kestrels, Buzzards, Carrion Crows and gulls challenge for forgaging rights.  There were also a lot of dragonflies about.

My favourite of the day though was this humble Vine Weevil, puttering about in my little patch of garden.
