A Day Worth Recording

Slug

This weekend is Worcestershire's Open Studio event.

We browsed a few in and around Malvern but by far the most interesting was printmaker Andrew Judd whom we eventually found after a trail across several back gardens (one of those terraces with interesting rights of way).

He was keen to show us the process in action.  The process wasn't quite the usual in that instead of creating text from set letter components, he had a set of 'negative' letters, i.e. moulds, which he set in order and then injected molten metal, to form a line of text on a 'slug'.  The resulting print was impressively crisp.

He happily demonstrated this and presented us with the slug above.
