for the Beginning or the End?

Most vegetable and fruit growers would regard this time as nearing the end of the season as autumn approaches.

For beekeepers however we do things rather differently.  This is actually the beginning of the season for our bees.

We are now starting to feed the bees in preparation for winter. If they have plenty of food now the colonies should come through the winter months well and in a  good state ready to get in the early spring honey.

So this is pay back time.  Here you see sugar syrup in a feeder on top of one of the hives.  This cunningly designed box allows the bees to come up and drink the liquid but not drown in it.
