Otley's Olympic Heroine

Took a stroll trough Otley this afternoon and a number of shops were proclaiming the achievements of Lizzie Armitstead, silver medallist in the Olympic women's cycling road race.

We are rightly proud to call her one of our own and hail her achievements.

Elsewhere, the Yorkshire media has been getting carried away with the notion that, if Yorkshire were an independant republic we would be around 11th in the medal tables, just behind the Netherlands and ahead of Australia and Japan. Now, I think that's just getting silly!
