Red Admiral

I don't have many butterflies visit my garden but when I came at lunch time this red admiral had settled on a sunny patch of rather dry earth.  I was sure that by the time I got my camera from my bag the butterfly would have taken to the air once more but I was lucky and it stayed with wings spread for a couple of minutes.
