Yellow roses

Before we were drinking gin, yesterday, we did a bit of gardening. The Minx was doing the clever stuff and I mowed the lawn.

We haven't tacked the beds at the foot of the second terrace yet, which used to be full of roses, tended by a very lovely old gardener called David. Since he retired a few years ago (from gardening; he was already retired) the roses have just done whatever it is that roses do when they're allowed to go wild. Basically, the bed is a mass of thick stems covered with vicious thorns.

But when I looked down there today, some yellow roses had blossomed overnight. I was in a bit of a hurry when I took the photo but you can just make them out in the centre of the picture.
