Wallflower

At a dance, I always gravitated to the wallflower, the beautifully plain girl who never seemed to understand she was the loveliest woman in the room.  I don't know why, but flash rarely appeals to me.  Unlike most people I've known, who seem to overlook the plain things in life, I always seem to notice all the things that make them far from ordinary.  These flowers, for example, could have been dead leaves on a nondescript bush, but I immediately saw the "dead leaves" were so much more.  I think this may be part of the legacy of growing up on a farm I knew like the back of my hand, but on which I was always making wonderful discoveries!
