At some point or another, it seems everything in the desert is a prickly character.  I believe this is a black-eyed Susan, ready to give up her seeds to start the new fall generation.  Even though these flowers have spiny hairs all around the back sides of their flowering heads and along their stems, I was struck by just how prickly this dead one had become.
