Small Places

Returning to the harbour

After a lazy morning, we spent the afternoon walking around the eastern half of Whitby. We'd found a booklet that described a tour of the town. It turned out to concentrate on the buildings and places that no longer exist, which was an unusual but interesting perspective. The description of the route was a bit haphazard too, so the tour took most of the afternoon.

A feature of Whitby is the number of boats that do short (and very modestly priced) trips out to sea and back. We chose the restored lifeboat.

My extra photo is a detail from Caedmon's Cross in St Mary's churchyard.
