Fingal's Cave, Isle of Staffa

It took one and a half hours to drive from our cottage to the ferry port of Fionnphort to catch our boat tour to Staffa. Driving on Mull isn't fast as most of the island is serviced by single track roads with passing places.

The swell was too high to land on Staffa, so we didn't get the chance to set foot in Fingal's Cave but the seamanship of the skipper was extraordinary, and got us really close to the entrance. Much closer than this shot conveys. It was quite dramatic and you can really appreciate Mendelsson's music when it was like this.

The extras are common seals basking out in the sunshine on seaweed covered rocks, which we spotted on our way out to Staffa.

And a photo of the northern end of Iona. This was a view from the highest spot on the island, Dun I.
