Life through my eyes

Arromanches-les-Bains

An interesting day.  A beautiful sunrise (bottom right) and fresh croissant for breakfast.  Quite a long drive to Arromanches (90 minutes each way), but managed to top up on cheap fuel at Bayeaux.

Then it was lunchtime when we arrived at Arromanches so having found a nice shady parking spot we then found a nice Brasserie serving crepes!  A fish crepe for Mr T and a La Normandie Super for me (apples, so almost healthy)!

Then we had a look at the beach and the remainder of Mulberry Harbour, into the D-Day Museum which had lots of interesting displays inside.  Then we climbed the hill to the 360 cinema, but Mr T's leg wasn't so keen on the hill so we didn't quite make it.  Back into town to buy some presents and souvenirs and then a nice ice cream, as it was baking hot today.  It does seem strange to eat ice cream and see people playing where once it must have been terrifying, but then that is why they fought to give them and us our freedom.

Anyway, a quick swim in the outside pool and tea on the terrace.  The sky promised a good sunset so we went down to the beach and we weren't disappointed.  One very rude foreigner leant over my shoulder when I was taking shots with the rock in the foreground and then proceeded to walk in front of my camera!  I hope some karma finds him one day!

I will try to catch up with comments on Blips tomorrow!
