Another goldfish to drown

This morning's high tide made it a good day to walk along the river, and several fishing boats made their way out to sea as we headed in the same direction. Sadly, some poor soul also thought it a good day to visit - to throw himself to the deep waters; we later discovered that, less than an hour before we had been passing this quiet spot, a man had opted to take his life just a short way up-river, and police, fire fighters, a lifeboat and helicopter had only just left the scene.

I hope he's found peace.

The title for this post is a line from the Stereophonics song, "Billy Davey's Daughter" (Word Gets Around, 1997), which seems appropriate.
