Bits and Pieces

"Bits and Pieces" seems to be the name of this puzzle - which we finished putting together this afternoon. The most interesting thing about it - aside from its being a serious challenge - was that when we were finished we found we had an extra piece! A piece entirely unrelated to this puzzle. A snafu in some puzzle factory somewhere... We have a second puzzle for our second week.
