Brave Blue World

By OlliEcological

Nearly slipped.

"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings."

So starts the beautiful poem "High Flight" by John Gillespie Magee and although I got nowhere near the altitude that inspired that prose, I got fairly near in spirit today.

We walked the Craig Cerrig-gleisiad circuit in gorgeous conditions (squelchy underfoot, lethal downhill) and it was, quite simply, stunning.

Back to camp afterwards for stew and beer by a roaring fire.

It gets no better than this. That's why I've got those laughter-silvered wings.

And a fucking big smile.
