Dranscombe Lugger

We were very lucky to have a visit to 1st Avoch Sea Scouts with the Brownies this evening. They were all very excited and had a great time.
1st Avoch Sea Scouts are the only Scout group in the World who speak Scots Gaelic. All the commands were in Gaelic so the girls quickly learnt to Seasaibh scocair (stand at ease) and Sgioba Luinge, ho ! ( Ship's company attention ).
There are over 350 sea scout groups andunits in the UK with 103 officially recognised by the Royal Navy with the Avoch Group being one of them.
The girls helped to raise the colours, enjoyed playing the Captains Orders, learnt about water safety with the useful phrase 'A great servant- a terrible Master'. We found out about the boats including this great Dranscombe Lugger called Lomond. A super time and a big thank you to the sea scouts.
