Kandkidsky

As a bit of a warm-up exercise for getting back to the nitty gritty of working and school life next week, Euan and I took over part of a local nursery for a bit of kolouring in with the kids this morning.

It was bit of a different educational demographic than I'm used to with a group of highly charged and snotty nosed three to fives, though the odd breakout of tears and tantrums seemed comfortingly familiar, but they all participated enthusiastically and unquestionably and stayed focused all the way through until they'd completed this giant recreation of a Kandinsky inspired painting. Euan and I came out of the other end covered in PVA, powder paint and sweat, they all went off for their lunch with hardly a mark or hair out of place.

Quote of the day, at the end when I showed them all Kandinsky's original. One wee lad looked, then looked at theirs, looked back, then pronounced "That's rubbish" and went back to eating his sandwich.

At some point in the future that bright eyed enthusiasm and unselfconsciousness might wane for some of them, but today it was just an absolute blast.
