Graceful decay

The slight advantage of going to Belfast for the day on Thursday was that we flew back to Glasgow on Thursday evening, meaning that we were ready to go on Friday morning for our flight to Berlin. In fact, we could have spent a lot longer in bed than we did, because our flight was delayed by one hour (late arrival of the plane back from Luton because of the terrible weather in the south of England). So we sat by the window and watched the planes coming and going and I had a good session catching up with my email.

The flight itself was smooth, but then we waited an inordinate amount of time to get our luggage. We used the S Bahn to get to Neukölln, and walked 5 minutes to D's place, which is a flat with a great view of a largely abandoned cemetery from a balcony that was much welcomed in Friday's heat (ca. 27 degrees). We enjoyed a beer, and then a wander up to the Tempelhofer Feld (see extra) (with its guerilla gardening that provided the blip) as the light started to fade, and then sat outside a local Greek restaurant for an excellent meal, watching local life go past.

One last beer on the balcony and we collapsed into bed after a long day.
