Cara and Islay from A'Chlèit

15.8C and bright with long spells of sunny sunshine. Some thin cloud. Light Westerly breeze.

Apothecary7's day off. We had a wander along the road with Maeve the Deerhound to one of the Pharmacies to collect Apothecary7's bag which she had left yesterday, then we were tempted by a bakers window display and two Raspberry Danish pastries were obtained for later.

Mid morning we drive North to Westport beach where we had a long walk along the sand towards Machrihanish. We had the beach to ourselves for most of the way. Level with Machrihanish Dunes golf course we saw two surfers in the water. One was really struggling to get out past the breaking waves, and the other was further out and managing to get up on his board for short runs where the waves were rising from the deeper water. I took some pictures but knew they were really too far away for the lens I had with me. Three ladies came along when we had turned to go back and it wasn't until we were nearly back at the car park before we saw anyone else.

We went to Glenbarr for lunch and on the way stopped at the farm stall at Bellochantuy for local eggs and shortbread pigs. Not quick service in the cafe but what a difference when someone (the boss) at least says "I'll be with you shortly". Lunch was good too. Then we bought some daffodil bulbs from their garden centre. They had a decent selection in the hothouse.

Apothecary7 suggested we go and have a look at the little beach at A'Chlèit, so we did. A lovely beach with pale sand and excellent views over to Cara with Islay beyond.

We came home at some time or another in the afternoon. We ate the Danish pastries of course.
