Quod oculus meus videt

Sky Patterns

I saw the most unusual patterns in the clouds above today.  We appeared to be under an atmospheric front, with blue sky to the best, grey to the east.  In the morning I drove from bright sunny conditions, into a cloudy area to visit Mum and later on returned to sunlight again.

Just behind the front, the whole underside of the cloud was patterned like this.  I stopped, but struggled to find a pleasing composition.  In the end you have the spire from the church at Hammerwich, and a field.  I seem to remember that this is the field where the 'Staffordshire Hoard' was found in 2009.  It was bought for the nation by Birmingham's and the Potteries' Museums and Art Galleries for £3.3 million!
