All fluffed up and no one nearby

Just as happened yesterday, the sun broke through the clouds fairly late in the day, and the day became pleasant enough to draw me to go back down to the flats of the bay while the tide was still a long way out. Just before I left, I heard a tui in one of the trees close to the deck. Unusually, it was making no attempt to conceal itself behind branches and leaves. Not quite no effort; minimal effort would be more accurate. When it did go further into the tree I moved to a better position. At which time the tui (he presumably) was trying to attract few past and he set off in mad pursuit.

Earlier this morning, during one of the dry spells, I took today's extra photo; the flowers on the bank beneath the large pohutukawa, and beside the cliffward extension of the deck. S is responsible for the choice of flowers, and for having the "legs" of the seat along the edge of the deck, painted blue. Both show her great touch in such matters.
