Family fun & Somerset capers

The fun continued today with a drive out to Uphill, near Weston-super-Mare. There's a fabulous place there that does mega-breakfasts. Unfortunately, we were too late for the brekkas, but enjoyed a good lunch, joined by Mr PP's sister, bro-in-law and dogs. Afterwards, we walked up the hill to the site of the small 11th century St Nicholas church. Mr PP junior, who can never resist climbing anything climbable, found himself a good viewpoint, looking across the Bristol Channel / Severn Estuary towards Wales. (You can spot Cardiff, if you look closely.) We gained further height and 360-degree views of the surrounding hills and valleys from the top of a lookout tower, built on the site of a former windmill. Back down and further walking before returning to The Wharf cafe for a cuppa and scones.

The youngsters have now headed back to their respective homes and work tomorrow after a fabulous weekend. We shall see our daughter again before this week's out, but for now we're staying with Mr PP's aunt. (That's where I thought we were heading last Friday night before Surprise Surprise!) What japes!
