A tower of strength?

Last day and our last Paralympic event – seated volleyball. I had never imagined what an exciting sport this could be, particularly seeing Brazil battling for – and eventually losing, by the narrowest margin – the Bronze medal. Then came the duel for gold and silver, between Iran and Bosnia Herzegovina, both apparently giants in the field. And Iran had a real giant on their side, a player 2.40m tall. He’s not hard to spot in the photo – and bear in mind that most of his team mates are 2m tall or more….

I’m afraid we didn’t stay for the end of the match. Nothing could match the excitement of the Brazil-Egypt match and we were falling about tired after all our activities of the last few weeks, a late night last night, early start this morning and the heat (fortunately, the venue was covered and air-conditioned).

Half watching the closing ceremony, but we’re not impressed by the choice of music and doubt very much that most of it would appeal to non-Brazilians. Time to give way to tiredness and head for bed.
