Ruff

This lone Ruff is a juvenile male, when it is older it will get the huge ruff of feathers around its neck and will look alot more impressive. This one has far more beige feathers than I have seen, but apparently their colouration can vary greatly. They eat worms and larvae and they use their short slightly curved beak to probe into the soft mud to find them. A bird I would love to see in full breeding plumage with that huge ruff of white feathers and ready to take on another male with a ground battle. Don't want another bird to get hurt though!
