Arnside linked to the world.

Remarkable really.

A good friend of ours came back from Australia today where she had been visiting her daughter.
In Sydney she got on to a direct flight to Manchester. No doubt it landed to refuel somewhere en route but essentially it was one flight.
Arrived on time at Manchester and from the station inside the Airport she was able to get a train to Arnside with no changes on route. Arrived exactly on time. My photo shows its arrival.

When you think of that journey 100 years ago you will agree that life is a little easier.

My extra is for rail enthusiasts. Taken half an hour before the main picture it shows a type 37 diesel hauling refurbished coaches on its daily return journey from Preston to the Cumbrian coast line. Joined on the station by a Northern diesel unit on its way to Carnforth. A busy little station at times.
