What's for breakfast?

It’s my favourite kitchen aid of the moment — a diminutive fry pan, barely five inches across and just big enough to hold a single egg.
I saw one a few weeks ago as one of the weekly special offers in a German owned supermarket, and though to myself “what nonsense.”  Then just a little while later, the rival German owned supermarket had, if not the same, a similar  stock of diminutive pans.
So nothing ventured, I splashed out £1.99. And I cannot find enough excuses now to use it.
My wife even approves — a fried egg which keeps its shape, doesn’t spread all over the pan, and is actually contained in a sensible shape whether it is to end up in a sandwich, on toast, or on its own with a few sautéed potatoes.
We’ve recently acquired a new microwave oven – one of those that seemingly does everything. Microwave, grill, conventional oven, or a combination of those cooking modes. Our old microwave still worked but the interior coating had begun to peel.
The advice we received was that  it was still safe to use, but I was a trifle worried that particles of the interior surface could drop onto whatever was being cooked at the time. The replacement is excellent, far more comprehensive and efficient than the old one, — once you’ve mastered all the controls.
But then, there’s my new, tiny one-egg fry pan.

Can’t wait for morning — might forget the toast and marmalade and go for another, perfectly cooked egg!
