Collision Course!

I was a little miffed with Cynthia yesterday when she didn't alert me to the presence of the pair of Pileated Woodpeckers at the feeder. In fairness to her I should mention that I was down in my shop at the time, with the dust extractor running, so it wouldn't have been easy.

This morning she suggested that I get my camera ready with the big zoom, in case they returned. I was glad that I did, although only one of them showed up. I was shooting lots of pictures -- all looking very similar -- when a flicker zoomed in menacingly. It must have veered away at the last instant, but the woodpecker either didn't notice, or didn't care!
