Cheyenne Headdress - back blip

While we were in Cheyenne, WY, we were graciously hosted by my nephew, his wife and son. His parents, my sister and brother-in-law (a fellow blipper), who live in Colorado Strings, CO were also visiting. They showed us around town, including a visit to the Wyoming State Museum where we saw this gorgeous Native American headdress among others and many intricate beaded items. Based on research I learned: "that a warrior earned a feather each time he did something the tribe felt was a brave act. Many times, the first feather earned was given to him for being seen as an adult member of the tribe. Once he had collected enough feathers, they were then made into a headdress. Because each feather had a special meaning, binding them together in a headdress made that Indian headdress even more special." It sure felt great to be with family in a home rather than in a hotel.
