An ordinary life....

What a Grey Day...

I had builders knocking on my door very early this morning asking for access to the kitchen so they could decide which pipe to extend the water supply to the extension from.

This was fine apart from the fact I wasn't quite ready to face my public.  I was showered and dressed at least (phew) but opening the door to plumbers with mascara on one eye and wet hair still wrapped in a towel, isn't really the done thing and I have finally had to accept that I need to be completely ready to face the day by 7.45am.  I managed to do it for countless years so surely I will be able to again.  I just need to get to my bed earlier and stop waking for over an hour in the middle of the night.

After the plumbers had gone, a man from the company supplying Alan's ceiling hoist arrived to meet with the main contractor.  I pointed him in the right direction.  Then Johnny needed the French doors opened again, and the electrician needed a quick word and before I knew it, it was 11.15 and I had to head out to my physio appointment.  Thankfully three of the builders' vans had moved so I was able to exit the driveway without causing major hassle.

Back by 12.45 in time to give Alan lunch.  After me glorying in his good health this past weekend, he's been a bit chesty sounding today and saying his chest is sore.  Great.  Will see how he is tomorrow and get his chest checked on Friday if necessary.

I looked out the kitchen window at 4pm so see one of the windows being carried into the garden room.  I think it might have been going in the window in the small hallway that connects the garden room to the pool building.  I will check shortly.

Johnny (who I've decided is sort of the site foreman) knocked on the back door and handed in samples of the tiles we've chosen for inside the pool, the pool steps and the surrounding edge. They were left this afternoon by the pool specialist.  This is the first time we've seen them (apart from a tiny sample of the pool mosaic we had or in a catalogue) and I am really pleased with them.  Hope David is too.

Johnny also advised me that they are moving our outside water tap from what is now the inside of the boot room, to the outside wall, so we need to clear the little table at the back of the kitchen and move it out of the way this evening.

And so it begins.

PS Update on the wardrobe malfunction last week where David had to abandon a work meeting and come home early as he'd split his suit trousers at the bum.  Well, it turns out they're not his trousers!

There's been a mix up at the dry cleaners and he's been given the wrong trousers!  Now he's wondering if they were split when he put them on and he didn't notice at the time.  Or maybe not and he'll have to admit to splitting someone else's trousers.  Either way I can't stop laughing whenever I think about it :-)))
