Rydal Water

It was a "drowned rat" day - real West Coast rain (if you come from NZ), persistent and soaking.

We set off to Rydal, home of Wordsworth, with the thought that if it was really wet we would walk up to the Rydal Quarry for some shelter.  We did just that, in the teeming rain, certainly well worth the walk, even in those conditions.

Huge cavern, amazing rock formations with reflections in the pool. It is man made, a consequence of quarrying for slate, long disused.

We had one stop on the way to Rydal, walked through the woods to the waters edge trying for some atmospheric images.  Not sure that I succeeded as it really was a battle to keep the lens dry even with the cover.

My blip is when we were walking back to the vehicle after the caves.  I loved the stone wall going into the Lake, it certainly was a mono day.  We popped into St Mary's Church and then to the Rydal Falls, by this time both of us were thoroughly drenched.....no more stops - home for a warming shower.

A blip meet drinks and dinner followed in Keswick - great to meet up again with Clickychick (Sue), Loose Canon (Peter), Technophobic (Jane) and meet Fastaperture (Sarah) & her husband, SueMIddleton (Sue), Derwentlass (Sue), Davidc (David), Jerra (Malcom) and of course John Gravett & myself.  A fun group as blippers are.  Thanks to you all for inviting me along.

Got to sleep, its late again.

Rainie
