Vannes

We're back in Brittany. It's been a long day's driving and not made any easier by the overnight rain which continued on and off during the morning. We started early (before eight) and did well. Biggest problem was that we arrived at the hotel and found it had underground parking which was too low for the 2.1 metre height of my van. After some smooth discussion by Lady Marian we were allowed to park in the disabled parking as there seemed to be no other guests needing it.

We dropped our bags and went into town. We stayed in Vannes once before in a lovely hotel on L'ile de Conleau but couldn't get in there on this trip. Vannes seems to be very busy, not sure why and there seem to be a large number of groups of young men everywhere. We did notice one restaurant booked out by the Rugby Club of Vannes so it might be something Rugby related.

Anyway we walked around the town and it is a nice town and has lots of expensive shops. We eventually settled on a restaurant, we were a bit early for French eating times and the main thing about this one was that it was open and serving food. We started with a cocktail to put us in the mood, had a nice meal and staggered back to the hotel. I think it might be an early night for us!

An extra shot of some medieval buildings and a couple more here.
