St Margaret's Bay, near Dover

One of those days where we came out on top making it a good day all around. Woke up to find we'd won a Lucky Dip on the Lottery, not much you might think but Lottery rewards have been very sparse. Found 4 large bank notes in a pair of trousers that I'd not worn for a long time. Then found the receipt for the microwave that we'd bought last year. It broke last night, with sparks arcing and smoke drifting from the machine as I was cooking rice. Turns out we bought it on 6th October 2015 so it was hot foot to Currys to take it back. It's now going to Panasonic for assessment for repair or replacement.

From Currys we went down to the White Cliffs National Trust site, blowing the aforementioned windfall cash on lunch in the cafe there. To work that off we walked along the cliff tops to South Foreland Lighthouse and on to St Margaret's Bay which was where this shot was taken. The light and skies were magnificent and the weather couldn't have been bettered. The extra is of the imposing White Cliffs.

Ferries were coming and going across the Channel, although the port looked fairly quiet. With the great visibility France could be clearly seen; the buildings of Calais picked out by the sun and even cliffs of Cap Gris Nez and Cap Blanc Nez well defined with sun and shadow. A large sailing boat was making its way up the Channel, you could see people standing at the stern. I liked the Impressionistic look of the shot taken on maximum zoom.

Back home to cook a roast beef dinner to end a pretty near perfect day
