Yolyn Am

The morning was beautifully clear without a cloud in the sky and the dunes visible in the distance. As we left the dunes, we drove through some very desolate looking landscape. After another long, bumpy drive we arrived at Yolyn Am or Yol Valley. The photo doesn’t do justice to how dramatic the canyon is. The rocks tower above you as the canyon narrows the further in you walk. It’s known as the Ice Canyon because of a thick sheet of ice that lasts until the middle of summer. There was a small amount of snow and ice on some of the rocks in the shadiest parts of the canyon.
