Life's Little Moments

Cute as a button

My friend, Cathy, and I headed south to Delaware this morning to meet up with our friend Nancy. We started our adventure at Bombay Hook NWF where we saw hundreds of birds in a total of 44 species. From there, we headed a bit north to Port Mahon where we saw over 100 Greater Black Backed gulls, the largest gulls in the world. We also saw several Least Sandpipers, the worlds smallest sandpiper. Interesting contrasts.

Today's blip is a semipalmated plover, which is one of the worlds cutest plovers (are you seeing the theme here?). There were 77 of them hanging out in a gravel lot near the beach, just being adorable.

When I'm home, I'll post some additional photos on Flickr, but for now, I'll just say....
happy Friday

We are just now watching the news and horrified to hear about the loss of life in Haiti. Hoping that the people in the path of this storm take all precautions to stay safe.
