Bearded dragon

We visited the Australian Native Plants Society Spring show at the Wayville showgrounds.

Marvelous day full of surprises, not the least of which was meeting this bearded dragon, comfortably ensconced on its owner's shoulder.

Next time we go, I shall have saved up a wallet full of cash, because there was so much there to see and buy - see Rower's Blip.  As it was I bought a dozen new plants for our native garden - 3 banksias, quite a few native bluebells and the one thing we went for - Qualup Bells (Pimelea physodes), a very rare plant from WA that I've been lusting after since I saw it on a gardening show a few weeks ago.  It would never grow on our soil, but this is a grafted plant which should be OK.  I aim to keep it on a pot.

We learnt that you need to get there at least 20 minutes before it opens - we arrived a few minutes before 10am and the line already snaked right through into the car park.  The best plants are gone within minutes, so it's important to do your research ahead of time, and zoom right into what you want before gawking around.

Wonderfully organised - they publish the list of plants available ahead of time, and every plant is organised in alphabetical order of Latin name.  There are also displays of cut flowers which showed the amazing diversity of Australian native plants.  I've put a few closeups in extras.

We'll definitely go to their Autumn show in April.
