Gates

Our gate is seldom closed, but the next door neighbours was shut this morning and cast shadows on the road.
It was difficult to walk on the road because of the thick covering of beech nuts. Like everything else this year the big beech has produced masses of fruit which covers the road and our drive. After the nuts there will be the leaves so the tree makes its presence felt. It isn't even in our garden, but we would hate it to go.
