Illusory

We were scurrying back along the Ardyne this afternoon, after a walk that was to have been brief but had been prolonged by two meetings along the way, when the sun came out. The view was transformed, like a stage-set in the warm light against the dark clouds to the north and east. It was, however, only the view that was transformed - it remained bitterly chilly in the easterly wind, and my hands were so cold I could barely hold the phone.

When, pray, did they tell us winter was coming?
