Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

A Lewis and Clark Day

In Astoria on a clear day, we had to climb the Astoria column commemorating the claiming of the West...(learn more about this sgraffito art here http://astoriacolumn.org ). one can see the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean and the mountains.  Magnificent. Our goal today was to see the Lewis and Clark sights we haven't been to.  Fort Clatsop, where L and C and the corp of engineers spent the harsh winter of 1805-06 after finally making their miraculous way from St Lewis to the Pacific overland ( not all by water as they wished) .  Then , since there is a big storm predicted for tomorrow we thot we better go to the Washington side of the Columbia to see where they camped and Cape Disapointment where they experienced the ocean.  This is the cape disappointment lighthouse that has been shining since 1856, taken from the excellent, well done, and detailed Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center.  We then walked to the lighthouse for more views of the Columbia's entry into the Pacific Ocean.. With 2 jetties now.
Walked around Astoria a bit.. It's a bit funky but feels good...by the time we came out from dinner nearly under the striking Astoria bridge which goes over the Columbia, it had started to rain..think it will be the indoor maritime museum in the morning before traveling to Washington's rain forest ( ha).
I apologize for lack of comments and replies ...and thank you for  yours and stars and hearts.. All appreciated.  About all
I can manage right now is the blip..I can't seem to make the iPad do extra photos so resorted to the collage to show how that blue sky turned into a more typical PNW grey. LOTS of rain predicted .. In Seattle too.

Edit:  I persisted in the morning to see if I could add an extra photo.. After a zillion tries , here is the mouth of the Columbia R. From the tower in the am and the view looking back from the cape disappointment lighthouse in the afternoon.
