What did I see today...?

Mountains, Gandalf, mountains!

Finally, we're out of the flatlands and back into hill country, or actually mountains as I'm in Foncebadón (small cluster of houses in top left of shot) which is at 1,430m, and just 2km from the Cruz de Ferro, the official peak of the Camino at 1,505m (though there's a higher peak just around the corner...)

This is actually off route from last time as we stopped in Rabanal (houses in middle of shot) for the night, 300m further down the mountain, so I've really adapted the route a bit to get here (including height it was an extra 7k, but it felt good and the weather turned nice after a cool start).

This is all a plan to get beyond Molinaseca tomorrow, so I can visit the Templar castle in Ponferrada - it was closed last time we passed through.

Co-conspirators are also thinking the same way, with Steve, John, Tony repping Australia, Jen and Kent for the States and Masa (spelling apologies probably needed!) for Japan all thinking the same way. We're also hoping to get to the cross together for sunrise tomorrow (or at least meet there).

Bonus pic - Foncebadón cat mafia, camped outside an albergue waiting for unwary pilgrims to let them in!
