Underneath the Spreading Chestnut Tree

Sidling on all fours up a slippery bank so as not to spook him I managed to get really up close and personal.

Battle scarred, isolated and tired wanting a rest after rutting whilst wanting to munch on the chestnuts opened up on the grass, he put up with me only a short while then wandered off up the hill. He preferred his own company I feel!

Taken at Dyrham Park this afternoon before the drizzle set in. This is an ancient 17th century Deer Park with an impressive mansion and garden which I  think would be exquisite in the spring/summer sunshine. This trot round the park was followed by  a birthday present to Hubs from #1 son and his girlfriend at the Hare and Hounds nearby for a sumptuous meal.

Excellent day!
