Travelling………..

……………….Home

Our three and a half hour ferry crossing between the North and South Islands was warm, sunny and calm.
From Picton, the South Island terminal it is approximately a three hour drive to our home in Motueka - today we chose to drive via the scenic route to rejoin the main road at Havelock.

As we descended the Whangamoa Hill towards Nelson we rounded a corner and saw an enchanting sunset - an illusion of sea and sky, but it was actually all cloud with roadside vegetation in the foreground. The colour disappeared in moments and we continued our homeward journey.

The lighthouse on the lower level was built in 1906.

3: From the entrance to Tory Channel, the route used by the Cook Strait ferries, both the North and South Islands are visible on a clear day. The South Island is in the foreground.

Thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for the photo of Hastings in the evening light and the eye-catching silver ball suspended near the clock tower and small flock of sheep. You will see my blips haven't been uploaded in date order and I still have several days of backblips to complete my holiday photos. This evening I will also make a start on catching up with your journals.
