Green-brindled Crescent

I had just put my moth trap on last night when the heavens opened - and it just poured! Luckily I had placed the upside down pyrex bowl over the bulb and all was OK, although there was quite a bit of water in the bottom of the trap this morning.
I was glad I had run it though as I caught this beautiful Green- brindled Crescent moth Allophyes oxacanthae, a pretty late season moth which although superficially a dull brown in colour has a variable sprinkling of bright green metalic scales which you can see in this shot.
This particular moth only has a few, but some specimens can be really pretty with large amounts of metallic green.
